With three days remaining before the June 3 local and parliamentary by‑elections, rival parties are intensifying their campaigns in key battleground regions expected to shape the overall outcome.
The leadership of the ruling Democratic Party (DP) will campaign Sunday in competitive areas, including South Jeolla, the Chungcheong region and Gyeonggi Province.
DP Chairman Jung Chung-rae visited Gurye in South Jeolla Province before heading to the Chungcheong region to stump for the party’s county‑chief candidates.
DP floor leader Han Byong-do is scheduled to visit closely contested Anseong, Icheon, Yeoju, Yangpyeong and Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province, where conservative support remains relatively strong.
Main opposition People Power Party Chairman Jang Dong-hyeok will campaign in Seoul on Sunday.
After holding a morning press conference at party headquarters in Yeouido, Jang is set to visit the Mapo, Seongdong and Gangnam districts to encourage voter turnout.
Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon will campaign separately from the party chief, joining floor leader Song Eon-seog for events at traditional markets in central Seoul later in the day.
