    1. Won’t happen. BS rumors. That would damage the CDU more than anything Merz could do.

      If the CDU wants to boost the AfD even more, they definitely should swap chancellor.

      Merz’s only issue is that he says the quiet part out loud. Aside from that, he represents his party. He represents the monied interests that stand behind his party, and for which his party acts. All his replacement would be is a person whose foot is a little further from their mouth. 

    4. You can’t just easily swap out the chancellor and just confirm the new one by his own party. Those rumors are BS

      He’s been an unfit chancellor even before he took the role, feels more like he felt it was his turn to have a go. He, more than any other current politician in Germany, seems quoted unsuited to the task. Like David Cameron wearing a Kier Starmer mask (if the British comparison isn’t too much).

      Just to clarify: the CDU can do f all, it’s only the Bundestag that can elect a new chancellor via a constructive vote of no confidence. Even to propose such a motion is complex enough.
