The Feast of the Holy Spirit was celebrated across Albania with festive liturgical services, including at the historic Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Pepel, near Gjirokastër, which marked its patronal feast with two days of celebrations.

Metropolitan Nathaniel of Gjirokastër presided over Great Vespers with the blessing of the loaves on the eve of the feast and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the feast day. At the conclusion of the service, a procession with the icon of the Holy Trinity took place around the monastery katholikon, followed by the blessing of the loaves.

The late scholar D. Evangelidis wrote in 1919 that the monastery, “which existed from very ancient times, was rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century and is among the most important monasteries of the region.”

In Tirana, Bishop Ignatios of Amantia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, where the 12th anniversary of the cathedral’s consecration was also commemorated. Archbishop Ioannis of Albania was present in prayer in the sanctuary.

Metropolitan Nikolaos of Apollonia and Fier celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church in Seman, Fier. A reception for the bishop, clergy, and faithful followed, organized with the support of members of the local Orthodox community.

The historic Holy Trinity Church within the castle of Berat also celebrated its feast. The church, a cross-shaped domed basilica, preserves important elements of Byzantine architecture despite the effects of time. Metropolitan Astios of Berat presided over the Divine Liturgy there.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Anastasios of Korçë celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the old Holy Trinity Church in the village of Tundas, near Korçë. Built in 1470 and associated with the princely Muzaka family, the church is known for its distinctive architecture and rare frescoes, many of which have suffered from age.

Numerous other churches dedicated to the Holy Trinity throughout Albania, many of them historic religious monuments, also celebrated their patronal feast. Among them are the churches of Holy Trinity in the Gjirokastër region, including those in Labovë e Vogël and Delvinë, as well as the monastery church of Zvërnec near Vlorë.

In their homilies, the clergy emphasized the importance of becoming dwelling places of the Spirit of Truth through faith and spiritual life.
