    1. Here in Hawaii we have essentially a 1 party system so Republicans just run as Democrats. We even had a lesbian Democrat here who voted against civil unions and later marriage equality! Like everywhere, it’s really corporations in charge.

West Virginia was the exact opposite not that long ago in the grand scheme of things.

Some of these states only have one or two house seats so it isn’t really surprising

With recent the recent Supreme Court decision that basically released Southern states from having to have a seat or two in their House delegation coming from Black (Dem) distircts, a number of Southern states will be red this year that are not that way now.

    5. I’m from New Jersey. We have a Democrat as Governor, our Congressional delegation is overwhelmingly Democrat both houses of the state legislature are controlled by the Democrats and Biden won all the state’s electoral votes in 2024. Please all New Jersey to your “total control” map.

Oh, you mean one party controls *every single seat* in the state’s congressional delegation. I was confused.

The electoral college is affirmative action for flyover states. Give us a popular vote.

    8. It’s partially a population density map as most of these states have fairly small populations and thus few congressional members. Massachusetts is the biggest outlier with 9 congressional districts all going one way. Connecticut and Oklahoma are the next closest with 5.

In terms of congressional districts (and number of reps) Massachusetts has 9, Utah 4, Connecticut 5, New Mexico 3, Hawaii 2, Oklahoma 5, Arkansas 4, Idaho 2, South Dakota 1, North Dakota 1, Wyoming 1, Montana 2, Delaware 1, West Virginia 2, Iowa 4, and Rhode Island 2.
