The hanged body of Mussolini may have detracted supporters of absolute power

    2. So I guess the cities of the North really craved for this Holy Roman Emperor eh?

Close call, crazy that people even consider it. Yes I’d like to vote for my emotional support aristocracy. Legal head of state who sits on his hands and lets the fascists murder people in the streets and join the war.

Wonder if there’s an Italian version of this sub

The classic Italian North/South divide which persists to this day. The few orange areas in the north are quite rural between cities

Despite over 160 years of unification, Italy is still more divided than it was then. North and South hate each other more than 160 years ago. In the South, they are even more divided thanks to corrupt governments. In the South, there are those who want to break away. But Italy, which joined 30 years ago, will probably be Balkanized because of too many debts that no one will pay.

The north-south divide on this map is still basically the same map you see for almost every economic or political issue in Italy today.

I have a question that’s been bothering me: why did Italy choose a republic while Spain and Cambodia chose a monarchy? I’m just curious about this post and wanted to ask this question.

Let’s thank our forefathers and foremothers who chose wisely to do away with an ineffective and harmful monarchy.

We have plenty of issues, but somehow we still managed to elect great Presidents of the Italian Republic (maybe minus Leone).

The Republic is the true inheritor of the Risorgimento movement, and we need to strengthen and protect it everyday for our children.

Everybody talks about the results, but learning more about the circumstances, the context, and the campaigns (if there were any) would be more enlightening.

Also, a more gradual shaded scheme would be interesting to see. How come the western tip of Sicily is different from the rest of the island?

Why did Sardinia support monarchy? What’s up with the three red spots in the traditionally republican north?
