Metallica have once again cemented their status as one of the world’s biggest live acts, breaking attendance records during a massive stadium concert in Germany.
The band performed in front of approximately 94,000 fans at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on May 30, setting a new benchmark for the largest stadium concert ever held in the country. The figure surpasses the previous record of just over 90,000, previously set by U2 at the same venue in 2009.
According to reports, the show drew one of the largest audiences ever assembled for a live performance in Germany, with fans filling nearly every section of the iconic stadium. Ordinarily, Olympiastadion’s concert capacity sits significantly lower (72,000), but the production design for Metallica’s show allowed promoters to maximize attendance and unlock additional seating areas.
The result was a record-breaking crowd that turned the venue into a sea of fans for the heavy metal legends.
The band acknowledged on social media the record-breaking feat, writing, “Night after night, city after city, the #MetallicaFamily is bringing it! Yesterday, over 94,000 of you helped break the record for the biggest EVER show at Olympiastadion. Thank you!”
Part of the Massive ‘M72’ World Tour
The Berlin concert is part of Metallica’s ongoing M72 world tour, which began in 2023 and has since taken the band across Europe, North America, and beyond. The tour has become known not only for its ambitious stage design but also for its record-breaking attendance figures in multiple countries.
With the Berlin show now added to that list, Metallica continues to push the boundaries of what modern stadium rock tours can achieve.
