Harm and, in classic fashion from this government, lay the foundations for further harms.

The power being given to the minister will be abused. Sooner or later.

    2. Well might have been a good idea for the entire media, public, and other political parties to not have screamed for years about NDIS rorts and the money spent on it and all kinds of rhetoric. Then maybe it wouldn’t have been looked at for cuts and red tape to offset the money being used to ease the cost of living crisis. It’s a bit late for the media to start caring about disabled Australians now.

Aus Gov is sadistic when it comes to the disadvantaged, they operate on the theory that people who claim to have disabilities are “draining” the system if they don’t actually have disabilities. Yet their own audits find that less than 1% of claims are false. So then they theorise that it’s better not to pay everyone so much because it’s “untenable” to continue supporting the 1% false claims. Yet they squander millions on cronies? Sadism at its bureaucratic worst.

    4. Remember, we will ALL become disabled, it’s just a matter of time.

I hope that when it happens, you receive the same amount of care and empathy you have for currently disabled people.

    5. The increase in ableist and frankly eugenicist rhetoric that we’re “a drain on society” and essentially better off dead they relied on to manufacture consent for these cuts has been so so so fucked, actually.

Mark Butler’s own rhetoric said that spending need to be redirected back to ‘taxpayers,’ as if disabled people don’t pay tax too?

Now I’m having to consider: when the NDIS cuts community access funding, will I be able fo keep attending uni? Will I have to go to fewer essential appointments to try and do a decreased study load? Etc.

My son and daughter are autistic with my son being on the higher end. We get (and had to fight hard) a small amount each year.

We put our kids though therapy with the ultimate goal of them working towards being armed with the skills to become contributing members to society.

The amount we have to pay is insane. Providers charge more than lawyers for the sessions.

We have since been told my son who is 8 is not getting any funding this year.

Whatever you feel about NDIS please know the only people hurt in this are the ones who do the right thing.

Regardless of what needs to be done to manage the NDIS, the Bill is honestly just abelist imo.

It’s exhausting to regularly have to defend our right to exist and contribute to society and enjoy our lives.
