Hey everyone!

I tried to search about this on this sub but didn’t find any specific information that fits my situation, so sorry if it has already been answered before.

Just recently moved to Germany, Frankfurt, and received the router Vodafone sent me for my internet connection. (I accept all Vodafone related jokes)

I got Cable internet, but now I’m a bit confused as to what to do here, because I can’t figure out where to connect it. I know the right connection is for DSL, but what is the left one? And is there any sort of adapter I can use to connect Cable to this socket?

    Thanks you everyone!

Put the hose looking port into the left socket. Then also attach it to the modem. Put the modem to power. You’re all set actually. Log in to your wifi with the qr code that vodafone provides. All set.

The left one is a TV aerial and the right one doesn’t look like internet to me. Internet lines are a different shape, more rectangular with three or four pins.

Call them and tell them that you don’t have the right Socket. They will send you an adapter or a technician to change it.

    4. You have to call Vodafone for a technician to replace the outlet with a 3 port outlet that has the connection for your cable internet. they will be slow with processing your request, and they say a technician will call you to make an appointment, they never call, so you have to spam call Vodafone so you can arrange a date when a technician comes.

    5. Both connectors are technically identical, just one female and one male, internally bridged. (Traditionally, TV sets connected with a female plug, left, and radios with a male, right). If you have any cable to either connector, go for it. If you need an F-plug (a plug with a thread), there are cheap&easy adapters for that.

Quick tip: The left one is probably an antenna cable connection (coaxial/coax) for cable internet – exactly what you need! Vodafone cable uses this round screw connector, not DSL.

Your Vodafone router (probably a Station or similar) has:

      – Left: Coax connection → for cable internet ✓

      – Right: DSL/TAE → you don’t need this

Simply screw the cable from the wall (also a round connector) directly into the left port on the router, and you’re done. No adapter needed.

If the wall socket only has a TAE connector and no coax connection, then your apartment might not have a cable connection at all – in that case, it would be a good idea to contact Vodafone or your landlord to clarify whether the connection is even available.

    7. You need a “Multimedia-Dosenaufsatz” or -Splitter (Vodafone should be able to send you one for free). Replacing the socket, as mentioned in some other comments, is NOT necessary

Hey I was a Vodafone technician here !

You need at least a triple port to activate your router call Vodafone and tell them to get you a technician to update your Port for the Cable Internet connection
      That should do it.
