Egypt on Saturday strongly condemned an Israeli attack targeting a Lebanese army patrol, which reportedly killed two officers and a soldier, describing the incident as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and international law.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry said the attack constituted a clear breach of international law and international humanitarian law.

Egypt stressed that the international community must assume its responsibilities in putting an end to repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory and ensuring Israel’s respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Cairo warned that the continuation of such escalation risks fuelling further tension, instability, and disorder across the region.

The statement also underscored the importance of supporting ongoing regional and international diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and preventing the conflict from widening, in a manner that contributes to boosting regional peace and stability.

Egypt reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any violation of Lebanese territory and renewed its full support for the unity of the Lebanese state, its national institutions, and territorial integrity.

The statement also called for Israel’s immediate and complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territory and urged the full and non-selective implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, saying this would help preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty and strengthen stability along the border.
