    1. Special shout out to Simon Schama for characterizing the drunken secretary of defense’s remarks as: a “special kind of loathsomeness: a blend of historical deafness, grotesque stupidity and comically ludicrous self-importance”. Nicely sums up this fool.

    2. > “Sadly, today, different European beaches are stormed by different, dangerous ideologies,” Hegseth told those gathered at the American military cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer.

Yeah you can’t get more stupid than that!

    3. Hegseth is a little man with very little brains. His mouth keeps trying to write checks his brain can’t cash. The drunk needs to be removed from office before he offends more of our allies.

Unlimited money and still he’s unable to hire a decent speech writer and avoid looking like an oversalted, unlipped fish of some kind.

    5. He should have accidentally shared that speech with a journalist before using it.

    6. Fit-Significance-436 on

Why would other countries allow the US clowns to speak at events, have they not been paying attention?

    7. TeslaProphet on

If you think his speech was grotesque stupidity, wait until you find out about Hegseth himself! Makes the speech seem like sublime intelligence!

    8. aircooledJenkins on

      Title should read:

Pete Hegseth condemned as ‘grotesque stupidity’

    9. So now we’re up to insulting the memories of the Normandy invasion?

Really, at this point, if anyone is still supporting this DUI-hire, white nationalist pride, anti-anyone not a straight white man in the military, adulterous, quoting fake scripture, village idiot; they need to answer under oath as to why. Because ol’ Peter hasn’t managed to provide one single reason as to why he should continue being in charge of our armed forces. Except to continue erasing what doesn’t fall in line with his personal views.

His insulting of service members both past and present is ABSOLUTELY not in keeping of the values that he should’ve been taught from day one.

    10. DaBigJMoney on

Like many folks, I think that nearly everything Hegseth does qualifies as “grotesque stupidity.”

    11. BadAtExisting on

Hegseth wouldn’t be an American citizen if not for immigration. Don’t let him forget it

    12. cpod_the_elder on

What happens when you give someone who sympathizes with Nazi Germany the mic on D-Day? An attempt to rekindle the fervor that stokes right wing hate.

    13. Marciamallowfluff on

The War Department and our War Fighters are glorifying war and downplaying Peace Keepers which should be the goal. Hegseth is weird and creepy.

    14. ElSlabraton on

Imagine replacing a four star general with a clown who’s biggest accomplishment is doing 150 pushups.

    15. I’m pretty sure a huge number immigrants and their first and second generation children gave their lives for the US in WWII.

    16. Shades0fGrey on

Grotesque stupidity is Hagueseth’s lane. It’s probably why he has the job.

    17. No_You_5941 on

Honestly, I’m not voting for anyone who isn’t ready to hold everyone in this administration and those who grifted off of it accountable. I want investigations. I want indictments. And I want trials. There’s are no other options. Between fraud, interference in government, illegal wars, theft from the American people, violations of civil rights, and the just goes on.

I want to see people like Hegseth and Stephen Miller weeping like babies as they are read their sentences in court.

Our country has become such an embarrassment. The trend towards embracing ignorance, incompetence and intolerance must end. The future of our country depends on it.

    19. TheAwesomeMan123 on

The speech is weird because the Allies stormed the beaches to free Europe from Tyranny of Nazis but then immediately compares the action to immigrants doing the same, invading populations arriving by boats and that it’s bad.

So was fighting the Nazis not okay then?

As a European i am truly suprised how we haven’t warned several US Administration Officials (Including JD) to cut out this Divise Crap or stop coming to the Continent all together. Like they are coming to OUR CONTINENT and trying to dictate OUR policies. Not even Russia is intervening in our affairs that way, they at least try to be subtle about it. These shitheads are just out there Rallying with the Pro-Russian Far-Right and trying to foment civil Unrest (Including the Couch Fucker calling for “Righteous Rage” after the Nowak Murder in the UK). The EU and its Member states should have unleashed every tool in our Toolbox to unravel the US Economy and Trade, but Nooo, “The US is our Ally” “the US is the Pillar of NATO” is the only response they know to give. I hoped that the Zelesnky meeting Debacle Last year and US wanting to Annex Greenland would have awakened them but EU had to rush that stupid Trade deal over. You do not negotiate with Trump, he will sell you out. I hope that our European Leaders like Mertz, Macron, Starmer and Von der Leyen will stop trying to impress Trump and so some Muscle for fucks sake

Edit: Props to the Towns Residents for Telling him to fuck off

Anti-immigrant spew during an event commemorating the beginning of the liberation of Europe from….a regime that persecuted anyone who wasn’t “pure”.

Take a look in the mirror Petey.

I lost all respect for Hegseth when he started making fun of the Royal Navy.

You don’t do that. The Royal Navy is the oldest in the world with the biggest and richest heritage, even the Russians and the Chinese have some genuine respect for the RN. Even US Navy plebes on the front line at least appreciate the RN.

And the Royal Marines? Again respected the world over even by American frontline troops, they even use the USMC’s core fitness test on their _selection weekend_ ffs. Lots of folks don’t realise they are indeed also part of the RN and not the Army.

    23. “Grotesque stupidity” is an accurate description of petey boy. It is even more applicable to his dimwitted boss.

“Speaking to the broadcaster BFMTV, one member of the association cautioned against acting as though everything was normal. “What’s happening with the Trump administration isn’t business as usual. The fact that Pete Hegseth is challenging all the international organisations that emerged from the second world war isn’t business as usual,” [said](https://rmc.bfmtv.com/actualites/societe/on-ne-pensait-pas-que-ca-allait-etre-aussi-important-langrune-sur-mer-celebre-le-82e-anniversaire-du-debarquement_AV-202606060067.html) Chantal Richard.
“The words must be spoken, he must be called out for who he is, for the values he represents: colonial, warmongering, racist, far-right values,” she added. “Silence seems to us to be the worst thing we can do on these issues.””
Yes! Stop the silence and acting as though this is business as usual!! ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THE NEW-ERA NAZIS!

His usual type of speech, unfortunately. Highly unqualified for his position.

Wrong date, wrong place, wrong audience , to place your cause and self identify with those who defended the beaches of Normandy.
