Public cheering events will take place in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup to support the Korean national football team.
The Korea Football Association(KFA) announced on Monday that it will host the events jointly with its official partner, KT, and the “Red Devils” supporters’ group on June 12, 19 and 25, when Team Korea will be playing.
The organizers will set up a main stage and relay screens in the square to air the games live on two large-screen media walls of the KT Gwanghwamun West Building.
South Korea has held public cheering events since the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which it co-hosted with Japan.
The events were initially hosted by private companies, but since the 2018 World Cup, the KFA and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have jointly held them.
South Korea is set to face the Czech Republic on June 12, Mexico on June 19 and South Africa on June 25
