Lung Cancer Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What happened at the Economist Enterprise – Events 11th World Cancer Series Europe?
Lung Cancer Europe President Debra Montague joined a panel on lung cancer control in Europe, alongside Jan Van Meerbeeck, thoracic oncologist at Antwerp University Hospital, and Yannick R. of Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
The summit brought together more than 300 attendees and 80 speakers from across oncology, policy and health leadership in Brussels on 8 and 9 June.
The discussion was QandA-led and covered the questions that don’t have comfortable answers yet.
- Why are 50 to 70% of people with lung cancer in Europe still being diagnosed at stage IV?
- Why do only a handful of EU member states have organised screening programmes?
- Why does where you live still determine whether you survive?
Lung cancer kills more people in Europe than any other cancer. The conversation is getting more urgent and the policy must catch up.
Also in Brussels: Our Vice President Angeliki Souri, Head of Operations Melanie De Coster, and Policy and Engagement Officer Michaela Regan.”
