Trade war with the US brewing. Coupang bought the horrendously corrupted US MAGA Congress. You’re not supposed to fine their companies anything, nor charge them any taxes for digital services. Or else it’s considered “unfair trade”.

What’s ironic is that in Korea, respect for public authority is very strong, to the point that even major corporations like Samsung and other large conglomerates issue public apologies when they do something wrong.
However, Coupang acted in a way that effectively disregarded Korea. That kind of arrogance led to this outcome. If they had simply apologized, acknowledged the issue, and promised to make changes, it could have been resolved for around 30 billion won.
As a Korean, this is the first time I’ve seen such a large penalty like this.
