DPFP’s Koga: “I’ve taught many kids who went into Japan’s Self-Defense Forces. They’re suffering a lot. The ones who join the JSDF are from tough economic situations. Affluent kids don’t become Self-Defense Force members.” Defense Minister Koizumi has called her remark “lacking in consideration”

The LDP’s worst nightmare is that Japanese people develop class conciousness

SDF sounds like a KKK job

Why would people with options choose a KKK job?

Working in areas of high deprivation in Chiba, we definitely viewed the SDF as a pathway for poorer pupils.

    5. What does “lacking in consideration” even mean?

Something like “You’re spitting facts, but you didn’t need to say it out loud!”

only tiny amount of countries where joining the military also means you get a good degree or masters to prepare your life for civilian life.

make it so first, then talk

Same the world over. I went into the military because it was either that or meat packing plants. Teaching Japanese kids in rural areas I also encountered many kids who were planning on going into the self defence force for precisely the same reason.
