How to watch Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness in Australia

Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness is streaming in Australia exclusively on HBO Max from June 27, 2026.

What is Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness about?

Well, there’s not much more to it, really. Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America, to give it its full and illustrious title, is a seven episode sketch comedy series built around the notion of the Obamas wanting to celebrate the storied history of America for its big two-five-oh.

Unfortunately, they rope in notorious crank Larry David, and so we get his take on all sorts of events, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Lewis and Clarke expedition, the Wright brothers’ first flight, and so on.

The cast of Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness

Larry David as himself, more or less; with Bill Hader as Abraham Lincoln; Kathryn Hahn as Mary Todd Lincoln; Jon Hamm and Sean Hayes as the Wright brothers; Jerry Seinfeld as a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition; Chris Parnell as Benjamin Franklin; and Susie Essman as Susan B. Anthony. Along with Jane Krakowski, Isla Fisher, Vince Vaughn, Rita Wilson, Essence Atkins, Toby Huss, Greg Kinnear, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Joe Manganiello, Alan Tudyk, Fred Melamed, Jeff Garlin, and J. B. Smoove in roles that have yet to be announced, plus former president Barack Obama as himself.

Do you think Lin-Manuel Miranda will play Hamilton? Bit obvious, really.

Why we’re excited about Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness

It certainly looks like a good time, and David and company have certainly roped in a staggering number of high-profile mates to fill out the ensemble. As long as it’s better than The History of the World: Part II, we should be fine.
