Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed Bulgaria’s role in regional energy security in Brussels on Thursday, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported citing the government press service.
Zelenskyy attended the European Council meeting in Brussels.
During their meeting, the two discussed Bulgaria’s key role in ensuring energy security in the region, including natural gas supplies and electricity generation and transmission.
The government press service said the talks also focused on the potential for industrial partnership and technology transfer to Bulgaria in drone production.
Radev is in Brussels for a meeting of EU heads of state or government. Speaking to Bulgarian journalists on arrival, he said the meeting with Zelenskyy had been requested by the Ukrainian side. He said Bulgaria would support Ukraine’s EU accession talks and would in no way obstruct the launch of negotiations.
