I’m originally from West Virginia, and something that may not be outright visible is them saying he originally ran as a Democrat but switched to Republican immediately after being elected.
This has been a strategy in the state for a while, most notoriously with Jim Justice running as a Democrat in 2016 and switching to Republican as soon as a Trump rally came to Huntington, WV. They take the funding from the Democratic Party to essentially run two Republicans on the ticket.
However, the state is so conservatively brainwashed, they’re going to say that “Actually, he’s a Democrat pretending to be a Republican and Democrats are pedophiles.”
I do not miss West Virginia in the slightest.
