It’s one of these things that you aren’t at all surprised to read in the news, but they still make you feel… soiled? when you’re forced face to face with the facts.
Sigh, I wonder how many more parties we can knock off the ballot by having the opposition ask to vote for them.
There’s weren’t really any antiwar parties. Only those who are pretending to be antiwar. All antiwar politicians are either killed or no longer at Russia.
I’m shocked
Look – this is the real measure of how most Russians see Putin and the war. As soon as a political actor appears on elections and clearly says “we need to end this war right now, it’s a mistake”, their rating has exponential growth in mere days. Nadezhdin, Duntsova, now Yabloko. This right here speaks so much more than “muh levada” sociology. People are not voting for names, or parties – they vote for the sentiment. Literally anyone who proclaims the need for immediate ceasefire and peace talks gains mass support. Putin is afraid of a party that gained 1,34% of votes in previous parliamentary elections because votes for them will show everyone the reality.
Considering that you can’t hold up a blank piece of paper in red square , it’s surprising that an explicitly anti-war party would have ever been allowed. They would be “discrediting the military”

With or without this move, does anyone still believe that these elections matter at all?
Neither side seem to want the public to decide on how the war ends. In Russia you can vote but it’s useless, in Ukraine you can’t vote at all and there is no evidence Zelensky will give up power. So it’s just a constant meat grinder, for both sides. Russia at their current rate of travel will get the territories they want in years at terrible cost and nobody to repopulate them with, Ukraine will be a country with no men over the age of 18 left in it. War is hell
It’s good to know that there are some reasonable Russians out there, even if they won’t defeat their dictator and his system. Societies are a mix and majorities matter, but it’s not everything.
It was very brave to stand up against the war and the regime publically like that and I respect them for it. We shouldn’t oversee these little glimpses of hope in the burning pile of trash that is Russian society.

The party is in favor of keeping Crimea within Russia until new referendum, what is so anti war about that?
