    1. With this government being a majority, I really don’t see the need to recall parliament early, unless Carney plans to pass immediately legislation that cannot wait until the scheduled opening.

No. Don’t talk about negotiations in public. Don’t ask about negotiations in public. I appreciate when parliament brings serious questions to the leaders but much of the time it’s grandstanding and points scoring. We don’t need that right now.

    3. Canada is not at war, if we were at war we would call a union government, even if symbolically. Considering the historical significance of the war we are talking about and the desire to be unified the government would want.

This is a very tense trade dispute with an openly hostile neighbor. Maybe a cold war if we want fun branding.

    4. We’re not at war. Really wish pundits and politicians stop with this rhetoric. Among other things it’s an insult to countries that are actually at war or threatened with annexation. Ukraine and Taiwan come to mind.

We’re at war the same way the US was at war when they had the war on drugs. Which is to say we’re not at war.

….also that was another war the US lost

    6. they’ve been sitting, prorogued or generally obstructing progress in all sorts of ways for a number of years now. I get that there’s this idea that they spend the generous off season with their constituents, but it truthfully seems like nothings getting done at a CRITICAL time for Canada.

Frankly, I’m shocked at the high polling ratings for the sitting party – I have not seen anywhere close to the performance you’d expect to go along with it.
