The Norwegian Government has allocated NOK208 million ($21.9 million) to 11 port projects to improve logistics, port operations and maritime capacity.
Managed by the Norwegian Coastal Administration on behalf of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, the funding is distributed under a national port grant scheme. The state support will trigger total investments of approximately NOK492 million across projects situated from the south to the north of the country.
The grants will support a new quay at Karmsund Harbour’s Husøy container terminal, the connection of two quays at Senja Municipality’s Finnfjord industrial site, and expanded quay capacity at Bergneset in Balsfjord.
Funding will also support a dedicated bulk cargo area and digital operations at Kristiansund Base, a new quay at Castle Harbour, and a new port area at Stokmarknes Environmental Harbour.
