Defence Minister Boris Pistorius is holding talks about military cooperation in Hungary on Friday.
He is due to meet his new counterpart, Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi, there, the German Defence Ministry said. Both ministers intend to make a public statement following the meeting.
Germany and Hungary already are linked through several defence cooperation programmes. The talks come as Hungary modernizes its armed forces with German weapon systems.
Under the former government of Viktor Orbán, a supporter of Moscow, agreements were difficult in Europe and NATO, but cooperation may expand under the new government.
