Or maybe just make them take card and pay tax? I couldn’t care less if the people working don’t have the right visa, at least they’re bloody working.

I think any business which is a “take cash only” or otherwise heavily incentivises paying in cash should be targeted. (for example I’ve been to restaurants that charge you 20% extra if you pay in cash, ergo they’re probably trying to skip out on VAT)
Not for immigration necessarily, like in the article, but because it feels like it’s people trying to be dodgy with tax. I understand small time self employed people not being able to do card payments but there’s no excuse for a business with a building and multiple employees.
Also, to be upfront, i get grumpy when I can’t pay at a place by card.

I had my car washed in Catford the other week and it cost me £15 and there were at least 10 people cleaning the outside and inside. There was no chance any one of those people were here legally
