Eni Aluko is a perpetual victim and attention seeker and there’s a reason why all of her former teammates dislike her.

Is that pic the exact moment he realised that free speech and freedom from consequences aren’t actually the same thing?

    3. Guess the police have found who nicked my bike then if they’re moving onto these cases

Can’t stand the bloke but this seems like a bit of a joke

While Barton is a complete asshat, I fear the UK is becoming a police state.

The fact that Joey Barton hasn’t been shot into the Sun is a crime against humanity.

    6. Aluko is just a professional victim tbh, I’ve read even her ex-team mates aren’t big on her.

Joey Barton is still a colossal prick though

    7. Did you ever hear his justification for stubbing a cigar out into his teammates eye? It was tragic, Barton’s a certified moron.

Absolute joke, anyone that deems this malicious needs their head examined, complete waste of police time. I can’t stand either of them honestly

    9. The blokes a complete nob and what he said was reprehensible. It shouldn’t be a criminal offence however.

While I don’t like Joey Barton at all and I don’t like what he said………what a slippery slope we are on!

I still don’t understand why he’s decided to make himself unemployable as a football coach in order to become a full-time Twitter troll. I mean, he was never going to be Manchester United manager but he was getting League One/Two jobs – which surely pay better than whatever he’s making now.

      Pathetic. Calling them
Fred and Rose west wasn’t ideal but apart from criticising her football “skills” or lack of , what did he say wrong? I didn’t read of any racist comments?

    13. The people in here saying “yeah, but Joey Barton is a dick”. Don’t forget there has to be an actual crime.

I don’t disagree with the dick thing, but the world is full of dicks.

His opinion is just that. He said things he believes that others may not. It’s not slander, so what is it?

Hes an utter bellend and I have no sympathy. But as a larger point I don’t feel like the police should have anything to do with this

He’s the most awful person but I’d assumed this was going to be about calling Jeremy Vine a ‘bike nonce’ when I clicked on it.

I’m really surprised he is being charged for what he said about that commentator. It was terrible and nasty and rude and awful, but I’d have thought malicious communications would be directly messaging someone with a threat, or being homophobic about them or something similar.

If you were to be consistent with his charge here, you’d have to put literally millions of people through court for saying things like ‘Biden shouldn’t be President’ and various other things to do with his clear mental decline.

    16. Joey Barton is a massive prick, but so is Aluko. Just ban them both from twitter and save everyones time.

Some of the comments proving how easy it is to fall down the authoritarian hole when something happens to someone you don’t like.

    18. DryConstruction7000 on

      People are short sighted.

They dislike Barton so they cheer.

This is absurd. He offered colourful criticism of her commentary on and knowledge of football.

That no one in the police or CPS has had the good sense to stop this before it got this far says something in itself.

If Barton has committed a crime, then half of this sub are guilty of a crime every time there’s a thread about Nigel Farage or any Tory politician.

Still, this will end up like the girl who was convicted of quoting a rap lyric. Barton will probably be found guilty. Then he’ll appeal and eventually someone with some sense will quash the conviction.

He’s a prick but no one should be prosecuted over something as stupid as this. Do we now have thought police?
