The Nuclear Company launched last week with big ambitions and a fresh thesis. Now all that’s left is the hard part: building nuclear reactors.

  2. A bunch of tech bros (well, “bunch” might be stretching it, it’s less than 50 people), led by the ex-CEO of a failed startup, are going to disrupt the energy market in the US by installing 6GW of nuclear power by the 2030s.

Right. Good luck. Or, actually, bad luck, because I like it better when the nuclear power industry doesn’t “move fast and break things”.

The difficulty isn’t in building the reactors, it’s in the public opinion of nuclear power as a whole. If people want to get the ball rolling on nuclear in the US then whats really needed is working on getting people educated about nuclear, specifically with how safe modern nuclear power is.

  4. Nuclear power is far too expensive. This project will go bankrupt before it starts producing power.
