Those two better hope they get prison, might be the only way to protect them from the inevitable Entmoot.
of course there’s signs of life, we cut down half a dozen sycamore trees when we moved here 10 years ago, there are still shoots coming out of a couple of the stumps. They will be pruning back on it for years to come.
Just grind it out and remove entirely then plant a new one. Yes, it’s going to put out some new shoots but they will have no chance of ever being a large tree. At best, you’ll get a hedge of sycamore.
