  1. FYI – It does need power, but only at start-up for the generation of the magnetic field it initially requires. After that, objects, including cars, will operate by moving on it without using any other type of thrust energy such as batteries or motors.

  2. It’s a track, rather than a fully internal mechanism. So the odds of widespread adoption are effectively nil, due to maintenance issues.

    EDIT: Widespread adoption for consumer vehicles, at least. Definitely an interesting innovation for maglev trains that will hopefully reduce running costs.
