Make vaccination mandatory and treat parents not vaccinating children against it as neglect. Don’t care how much it upsets the anti-vaxxers. Some parents are simply not responsible, intelligent or scientifically literate enough to know what’s best for their children.

>The latest vaccination uptake data for the vaccination offered to pregnant women to protect newborn infants against whooping cough continues to decline, with coverage in March 2024 at 58.9%
What’s sad is I know a lot of pregnant people who didn’t get the vaccine “just in case” it harmed their baby.

Anti-vaxxers should be mentioned in the headlines as responsible for this and every time an anti-vaxxer speaks up they should be drowned out with chants of “child killing scum” until they fuck off completely.

I wish there was more enforcement of vaccines and vaccinated children like in Australia. My toddler vaccinated but I don’t know if any of the kids in his nursery are. Why not ? Why don’t child only spaces enforce proof of vaccine or at least encourage them? How is there no obligation on the operators of these spaces if they hosts kids that are unvaccinated and freely spread measles, whooping cough etc…?
My doctor was saying this, UK is a high trust society. It functions on people assuming that people and orgs are doing the right thing. You just assume other parents around you are getting their kids vaccinated, but what if there not?
Vaccines work on heard immunity, need a critical level of people taking them to work.

This outbreak is terrifying and it’s not only affecting the UK. I live in France now and I think the stats are even worse here – so much so that it’s now being recommended that everyone who will be in contact (the father, grandparents, siblings, etc.) with the newborn should get the jab.
I’m due in December and have had the jab, as has my husband. My mum and sister who are in the UK but who will be coming over are also fighting to get the vaccine before coming over. My MIL on the other hand…

Me and my baby just got over catching Viral meningitis she’s too young for her vaccines only 4 weeks old. The doctor said The people coming here unvaccinated caused a surge in the area we’re close to where they come over, and also idiots not getting their children vaccinated so it’s a double whammy. Honestly it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt I couldn’t even hold my baby she was so unwell too. It’s only going to get worse

I get the idea of forcing vaccines. I am vaccine trained in GP surgeries. I dont vaccinate children. Thing is people say enforce, who brings thr child though? The parent who doesnt consent? No they wouldnt bring the child. At a recent vaccine update I was told that we are the only country were rabies is no longer because of a successful vaccine uptake. Also we now have a increase in polio and small pox. So all these anti vaxxers will br sorry.

Whooping cough is so nasty. I’ve struggled with it for about 2 months, easing up now a bit, and in that time I felt myself about to black out from coughing several times a day (I’m also asthmatic so it hit me pretty hard).
Parents need to vaccinate their children against this. Shouldn’t even be a decision, every baby that can be safely vaccinated should be.

I was weirdly thanked many many times during my pregnancy for getting the vaccination.

Having had whooping cough in my mid 20s, I would recommend the vaccine to anyone who can get it.
It was a really shit 3 months, and I’ve got ongoing complications to this day (turns out coughing until you vomit multiple times per day for 3 months fucks up your body somewhat)

I had whooping cough when I was around 2 weeks old, and apparently was very lucky to survive.
When my youngest was born 13 years ago, the vaccine wasn’t offered in pregnancy, but if it had been, I would have had it straight away.

I was vaccinated during pregnancy, my daughter had all three jabs by four months and STILL got it, and it was awful.
I dread to think what would have happened if she wasn’t vaccinated. Please vaccinate your kids. It really should be classed as neglect not to.
