Surely the first rule of farming is “this is a hard year”.
It’s definitely been a bumper harvest for all the slugs and snails that have been tucking into my strawberries. They don’t even have the good manners to eat a whole one, they just munch a chunk out one and then move on to the next, the cheeky bastards.
English strawberries are especially sweet and fragrant this year too, beautiful to eat. I buy a big box from the supermarket in the morning and they are gone by lunchtime!
So…. If we get this weather every year, we’ll have Strawberry yields forever.
