Yeah I’ve been operating under that assumption for quite a while.
Annoyingly every time I’ve brought this up as happening, whilst having a background in software development and SEO, a bunch of smug idiots come out and say ‘it’s your search history, they’re not listening to you, you just googled something related’.
I’ve tested it several times, I’ve mentioned brands of cat and dog food when I have no pets and started getting those adverts. Something is listening.
This only confirms what many people believe and have anecdotally experienced.
Just confirming assumptions. I believe it for sure. I do not agree with it though and feel like if they want that level of targeted ads then they need extra permissions that are ultra clear they will be listening even when app is not actively in use
we needed an article to know this? its been known for years that facebook spies on its users, on and offline, if you have no dog or pets, talk about pet products in the vicinity of your phone, and in about 10 minutes, youll start seeing ads for pet related stuff, terrible.
