Quick skim of the article suggests that someone brought it from the mainland as some sort of pet.

Has RFK Jr. been on holiday or is he only in to leaving dead bears in mysterious places?
Presumably imported as a sacrifice to the Old Gods.
Or the Lib Dems maybe. Who knows what goes on up there?
Is Orkney reached by ferry? Could it have snuck aboard one?

Hi. Orkney resident here. We had a prank back in 2007 where someone attempted similar, but this is definitely not a wild fox that was hit locally.
It looks to be another sick joke, especially when you know that its legs had been broken post-death, and even just how it’s positioned ( https://orcadian.co.uk/investigation-under-way-after-dead-fox-discovery/ pic on the link, there).
