The story is incomplete. It’s almost fear mongering. AFAIK there has never been a recorded fire of an ebike or ebike battery from a reputable manufacturer like Bosch, Yamaha or Shimano – it’s typically self-assembled cheap Chinese imports that cause fires.

Yet, according to the story, ebay will prevent legitimate users from selling their 2nd hand Tern ebike with a Bosch battery and proof of purchase from a legitimate store.
