What is the reason to target Spanish daycare teachers?

Helsinki plans to recruit 15 early childhood educators from Spain to address ongoing staff shortages in daycare centres. Selected candidates will participate in a Finnish-language training program in Spain that lasts 9 to 10 months before starting work in late 2025 or early 2026. This initiative builds on a successful pilot project for Swedish-language daycares. Spain was chosen for this program due to its surplus of qualified educators. Additionally, the initiative aims to enhance workforce diversity and promote work-based immigration.

Spanish is the most popular language to learn in Finland after English so makes sense, however I recommend you learn swedish and not Finnish, it’s better to work in Sweden/Norway/Denmark and Finnish is extremely difficult to learn. Housing, public transport, food, taxes etc are too high in Finland!

Let’s call down. It is 15 daycare teachers, it won’t solve any of the economic problems we have here (well, it will solve them for the teachers as they will be treated the way they deserve, and get paid a very good salary, and on top of that, they’ll have top notch resources to look after and help these kids during their early childhood development)

The shortage they are trying to address is caused by shitty salaries compared to the cost of living in Helsinki. Salary is most likely higher than in Spain, but renting is very expensive, food is much more expensive and going to a restaurant is outrageously expensive. Also taxes are higher.
And weather is absolutely terrible for most parts of the year, but lack of sunlight is the worst.
Wouldn’t even consider that offer.
