She made her choice, she has absolutely zero remorse and can tell still feels the same about the west. Just wants the benefits/lifestyle of living in the UK.

She should never be allowed to return.

I think that UK government would rather make an example of one person and highly publicised it and deal with a bigger issue.

    3. My issue with this is that it relegates people who have foreign background to lesser status citizens since they can in principle have theirs revoked on the basis that they allegedly hold another citizenship (even where the other country denies so as in this case). Whereas anyone who has no identifiable foreign descent is secure.

Fantastic news, I had some concerns Labour would have her back.

She should never set foot on UK soil again.

    5. Her case should serve as a lesson to any other young people who may be looking to follow her footsteps. It’s good that she is being made an example of.

    6. There is a BBC Sounds podcast about her story which goes into detail on how she came to the decision to leave to ISIS and what her life was like when she got there. Very interesting and allows you to make your own decision on if you think she deserves to be stateless or not.

She talks about packing her bag full with mint chocolate bars and sweets when she left for ISIS which to me shows she was still a child at heart and probably had no idea what the ramifications of her actions would be. She had a friend who had run away to ISIS before her and groomed her into going from the age of 14/ 15. She’s witnessed the death of all her children due to starvation.

The podcast raises an interesting question on why not bring her back to serve a prison sentence and serve her dues. Is being eternally stateless living in a refugee camp until she one day dies fair and just punishment for her actions?

One less person to worry about IMO so it’s actually an advantage to not allow her back in, ie terror threat and one less drain of our taxes

    8. She’s lucky the Kurds have let her stay with them. Everyone fucks the Kurds over yet they are still so giving.

    9. She was stripped of citizenship (and rightly so). The Supreme Court dismissed her application for challenge.

She’s not a British citizen. Why would the UK allow her back?

    10. Like it or not she was groomed and radicalised whilst residing in the UK. Therefore we should hold ourselves partially responsible for allowing this to happen to a child on our “digital watch”. Her opinions on terrorism whether accurately portrayed by the media or not are irrelevant – criminal or not, she should be tried in a UK court and be held accountable by the government that failed her.

Not me walking around the breathtaking British countryside with complete peace knowing Shamima Begum is not allowed here.

    12. Why are people still talking about this waste of oxygen. Banned for life should mean banned for life. She made her stupid decision.

    13. Absolutely correct course of action, we all know that only white kids can get groomed. She’s too brown to be allowed back to the UK.

(Take me seriously, I dare you)

    14. I’m all for banning people but what about IDF soldiers carrying out a genocide and being welcomed back to the UK

      Good.
With all the people complaining about dangerous immigrants coming in it would be stupid to let in a known terrorist traitor into our country.

      She made her bed

Considering the Government are now planning on taking away Al-Nusras terrorist status, you may aswell let her back in, clearly it means nothing an they can decide what to define an organisation when it suits them 😂

    17. I’m fully against taking citizenship away in that way that we have done, regardless of the individual in question it shouldn’t be possible and it’s authoritarian powers

However she’s a terrorist, we should have bombed her

She is in the al-Roj detention camp. That means without the Kurds, she is more free to escape detention and make her own way to the UK perhaps on a rubber boat. Previously she was trying to apply through regular routes but now she can take the matter into her own hands..

The UK appears to make altogether different decisions once someone is in the UK when there isn’t an obvious or safe place that they belong. (she is a defacto uk citizen is Uk responsibility)

(at least this is my understanding. The reporting on this is weird and opportunistic for politicians to make statements that aren’t grounded on what is the likely sequence of events)

We support Israel, the US and Saudi Arabia, let their officials into our country and support and fund their crimes. All who have backed, funded or supported terrorist groups (whether it be Israel and ISIS, Saudi and Al Qaeda or the US and both) but a 16 year old (likely groomed) idiot who shows regret and wants to come back is TOO FAR.

    20. ToughCapital5647 on

If ISIS had established itself as a state she wouldn’t be wanting to return, we’re the consolation prize.

    21. idontlikemondays321 on

Good. Not only for the obvious reasons but also because there’s a decent chance innocent people will be mistaken for her and be faced with a braying mob. It’s too easy for rumours and addresses to be spread

    22. Folks, if you have an opinion on this kid you’re letting newspapers twist your mind.

Why do any of us know or care about this person? I personally don’t.

You know nothing about her. Most of what you’ve been told is second hand or made up for clicks.

It’s weird to have any kind of firm opinion on her except indifference.

Stop falling for the culture war grift.

    23. It shows, but we knew that already, that the various UK governments and intelligence have no interest in understanding the mechanisms of grooming and radicalisation. Hence we’ll continue enduring terror attacks, bombings, gang crime.

    24. Can we sue the next human rights lawyer who drags this case out the depths of hell where it belongs, wasting tax payer money in the process.

    25. Oh my god newspapers have one fucking story. Are we going to rake a Maddie story out next? Jesus Christ.

    26. I’m sure Tommy ten names and his anti-muslim grooming gang grooming gang will be all over this, organising meetups in London in support of the young British girl who was the victim of grooming.

I’m not from the UK but I hate her on your behalf. What an incredibly punchable face she has.
