    1. We shared this article at almost the exact moment.

If anyone had any doubts on Musk’s motives…

Not only that but EV vehicles are under intense scrutiny by the HOL and the cost of electricity is through the roof so Tesla is too expensive in the UK in comparison to Petrol

If you look on HOL website at the debates you can see what’s happening with EV

    3. So an EV company is lobbying for something that benefits them. That seems fairly normal that they would want such a thing and is actually related to their core business

    4. Fancy_Implement8179 on

Just like petrol/diesel car manufacturers lobbying against EV’s. Not exactly shocking news, obviously both sides will do what benefits them

    5. We need to move to a weight based taxation of vehicles soon. Cars are actually getting ridiculous in weight. We don’t need SUV EVs.

musk needs to stay in his lane, brown nosing trump in exchange for backhanders from the US treasury

The price of electricity has been falling in China since 2021 …. they are the biggest investors in renewables in the world. Meanwhile in the UK …..

    8. Lobbyists lobbied for measures that would give them a market advantage. Shocking, shocking news.

The government need to goto Tesla’s board and inform them, frankly that whilst Musk is part of the company the UK government won’t lift a finger to make their lives easier.

And then give incentives to other EV manufacturers

The story here isn’t that ev maker lobbies government its that the government is so open to lobbying

    11. My personal opinion of Elon Musk was already pretty low but this relegates him and his immediate executive circle to ‘cunt’ status. The european boss Joe Ward is responsible for penning the letter to the newly elected Labour government in the UK suggesting they introduce a tax on ICE cars to push people towards EV’s. They’re both just massive cunts, where’s Luigi when you need him.

    12. It’s crazy the way that Musk has managed to make an enemy of everyone who might have been an ally in the quest to move away from ICE vehicles.

The bit in the middle of the Venn diagram of “supportive of the race riots and anti-immigrant violence in the summer” and “keen EV evangelist” is pretty small.

The people I know who are even vaguely sympathetic towards Musk, Trump and Farage are exactly the same people spreading EV misinformation.

Meanwhile, the people cheering the latest EV market share (did you see that 35% of cars sold in the UK last month were BEVs or PHEVs? That’s massive!) mostly seem to be the people who recognise that Musk’s promotion of the far-right is a danger.

    13. Business lobbies government in its own interests. Not really earth-shattering news. You might as well make the request.

He can’t do shit! Doesn’t matter if Farage has a £100m, one useless man can’t do shit

This news won’t stop the likes of arseholes like Jeremy Clarkson kissing Musk’s ring when the time comes. They are all unprincipled cunts that can be bought.

When do these people reach the point of “enough” money?, that ghoul could give every man, woman and child £10k each and still be a multi billionaire, when do you arrive at a stage where people finally realise having one person having this amount of money at their disposal is detrimental to the rest of us, he’s just bought an election and he’s already talking about meddling in UK affairs, how far can it go?

    17. Thebritishdovah on

      Of course.

I’m surprised he’s not try to get Farage to have an anti-petrol party that gets idiots to donate money.

      Yet.

    18. We should do this. But also do the same to EVs. Massively increase funding to train and bus services, turn all roads with more than 1 lane into a single lane and use the rest of the space for busses, bikes and trams. Deny permission to all privately owned vehicles within all towns and cities between 8AM and 8PM.

There you go Musk, see how much we helped the environment by getting rid of all the cars?

    19. I’ll probably get downvoted but here goes – what does everyone expect him to lobby for? The opposite? Breaking news – Sun rises from the east …

    20. I’m an EV driver, so increased petrol costs really won’t affect me. But no. Don’t do this. Our EV infrastructure is growing, but nowhere close to big enough to support a majority switch to EVs yet. What we should instead be doing is looking to swap out petrol and diesel for synthetic alternatives (which have been around for decades at this point. 3 guesses why they’re not commonly found yet). They’d allow people to keep their existing vehicles and these alternatives can use our existing infrastructure that supports petrol and diesel vehicles.

Trying to force everyone to make the switch to electric all at once by increasing fuel costs is going to negatively affect every driver.

And I’m not being funny, but most people won’t buy Muskrat’s shitbox cars. There are plenty of other EVs in the UK that are significantly more affordable, and aren’t backed by a drug fueled egomaniac

The lobbying to keep cannabis illegal while the UK is the worlds biggest exporter is criminal in itself.
