Because there is literally NOTHING more important than this for our police to be doing.

      >People **using** so-called ‘dodgy’ firesticks to illegally stream sports and TV have been issued a warning after police launched a crackdown operation, visiting homes across the UK

Hey, that’s interesting as it is the first time people *using* ‘dodgy’ fire sticks have been targeted rather than suppliers.

      Oh wait…

      >It primarily focused on dismantling piracy operations, targeting more than 30 **suppliers** selling unauthorised access to paywalled content.

Yep, bollocks clickbait article from the Mirror regurgitating FACT propaganda.

    3. Corporate IP more important than rape, robbery, domestic abuse, shoplifting, embezzlement, fraud.

“The overall aim is to dismantle piracy operations, targeting more than 30 suppliers selling unauthorised access to paywall content including live sport.” – So it’s suppliers not users. Nothing to see here.

    5. I just hope all this chatter makes the big hitters rethink their pricing and models. Rolling monthly deals are a huge improvement, but VM (an as example) will still let you one-click your way to a month of something, and then have to contact them either on the phone, or sit on live chat for an hour, to cancel. By this point they have already tried to force numerous deals down your throat. It’s painful.

I really want to watch sport in real time, with decent quality and reliability, but they just make it so difficult.

    6. I’d just point out for those who didn’t read the article:

      >
*It* ***primarily*** *focused on dismantling* ***piracy operation****s, targeting more than 30 suppliers selling unauthorised access to paywalled content.*

The main focus is on those selling the devices, not your neighbour who streams the football.

I’d also point out it’s possible that the officers are being funded on private employ – i.e. overtime. This isn’t uncommon. When you drive past a film set and there’s officers guarding it they’re often staff who should be on a rest day but are being funded purely by overtime paid out of the studio’s pocket. Many ‘hospital officers’ are the same – all the hospitals in my part of the country hire 1x officer each Friday and Saturday night. It doesn’t cost the taxpayer anything really.

NPCs in this thread finally waking up to the fact that the police don’t work for you, they work for the corporations and to protect the rich.

Get burgled, robbed, murdered or raped: Crickets

Threaten the profits of a multinational: POLICE VISITING HOMES CRACKDOWN

    9. Are these fire sticks any good? I’m sick of needing 7 different streaming services, all charging £10-20 each, all cracking down on password sharing, all with low quality or forced ads, I’ve just had it. Streaming is fucking crap now.

    10. I’m so glad that our overstretched and understaffed police are out there on the mean streets protecting the real victims, Sky and the Premier Leauge.

    11. Cool but even when I do pay for all subscriptions I still can’t watch 3pm kickoff. Can’t get tickets to the games even if I wanted to. So fuck me I guess? All of Europe, US and middle East get to watch them though, as long as them and the shareholders are happy…

Edit: if anyone can point me to one of these ways of watching them please let me know. I normally stream but quality is very hit and miss.

You know what is criminal? The 3pm blackout, bet that has caused more piracy / sticks than anything.

Maybe make streamable content affordable and accessible and this won’t be a problem. Piracy is always a failure from service providers, not people just being cheap

Got to make sure those giant corporations are getting their money!! It’s a weird world

    15. Maybe if watching stuff legally was easier people wouldn’t go to illegal methods

Spotify and other music streaming services pretty much killed music piracy.

    16. Forsaken-Original-28 on

If watching football cost £10 a month or something reasonable no one would illegally stream it. As it is you need to pay extortionate amounts to different providers

No time or resources to go around rounding up all the known crack and smack dealers though

    18. Just following the American plan, where shareholders and business owners are more important than the public.
