We don’t need to be reminded he’s a boy because his age is mentioned every time he does almost anything!

So easy to forget he’s still a teenager when he looks like a 30 year old man.
He’s such a talent.

It was absolutely bonkers. I was paying attention to his technique last night, and the lack of movement in his body (other than his throwing arm) is astonishing. Also of course to have that much steel to cope with a crowd that size in a knockout tournament is something else. Kid is absolutely the real deal.

He’s an inspiring young man. To perform like that after a tricky start to the match is just incredible. I’m glad he’s got a loving mum and dad who seem to have his best interests at heart.

The way he clicked into the game in the 4th set was stunning, and you could see the anxiety melt away as he banged in the 180s.

A lot of the other top players are going to be making more losing to him than they would have by winning just a few years ago.

They call him Luke “the Nuke” because he is both a Fat Man and a Little Boy

[edit] didn’t come up with this joke btw, I saw it on Twitter but can’t find the account again now to give credit to. I agree, it’s an amazing joke

He’s set for life, and he’s only 17. Must have a mental effect.

I know it’s “only” darts but the travelling schedule in darts is pretty extreme especially for someone so young and the pressure of darts is unlike many other sports where you don’t need to be as precise. It must be like that exam stress feeling but on international TV! And non stop 10 “big” competitions in the year and one a month overseas too I believe.
Then you add in media commitments, press, celebrity stuff and being a 17 year old lad. No wonder the pressure got to him

When he’s on his top game I’ve only seen two players better.. Phil Taylor and MVG .. Just 17 years old, an extraordinary talent..

Everyone wants a piece of him, it must put incredible pressure on the young lads shoulders.

Of course because men shouldn’t ever show emotions.

He reminds me of Rodney trotter trying to be a 13 year old in the Grovey gang.

This guy has been 17 for what feels like years now

Whenever I see clips of him or other people playing darts at these big competitions it’s notable that they seem to applaud and congratulate each other genuinely when they’re playing. Meikle saw what was happening, knew there was nothing he could do about it, and was just smiling through the set knowing he’d lose.

All the other primary school kids must have got him to go in and buy them Monster.
