Theyre classic politician rats – they fear losing their corrupt power structure so they try their best to discredit any action that encourages average citizens in hanging the corrupt elite by their neck.
Its typical Russian fear-mongering. if some asshole is sitting on your head, is corrupt, is collaborating with the enemy and distancing country from the allies, it is better to let it be and choose peace over freedom, because otherwise Ruzzia will get mad and invade
Yeah, this coolest thing ever turned out very cool for Ukraine. Lost Crimea, got russian insurgents in eastern parts of the country, engaging in proxy war with Russia for 8 years, before initially meeting full scale invasion, thousands of dead ukrainians, and millions got their life ruined.
GD is just being realistic about bordering Russia, knowing well their country can meet more terrible fate than Ukraine.
