Update: Wednesday at 10:40 a.m.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Officials with Atmos Energy offered an update on restoration efforts after a Tuesday evening outage left around 700 homes without gas service.

    As of Wednesday morning, Atmos Energy officials said that around 455 out of 591 customers had been restored to service.

    “We are still working the outage for any customers that are home. We should be completed by mid-afternoon,” said Atmos Energy in a comment to MyHighPlains.com, “If we missed any customers that are not home they will have a tag with customer service number to call one of our technicians that will be available on-call 24/7.”

    Update: 6:45 p.m.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with Atmos Energy said it expects the restoration process to continue throughout the evening and into Wednesday.

    Officials said crews will work through midnight and resume the restoration process at 7 a.m. Wednesday out of safety.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Atmos Energy reports that its crews are addressing a temporary system outage that is affecting about 700 homes in Amarillo Tuesday evening.

    Atmos said the Amarillo Fire Department and city officials have been notified and it is communicating directly with customers in the affected area.

    Atmos said it and the City of Amarillo Office of Emergency Management established a warming center at the Warford Activity Center at 1330 NW 18th Ave. The center opened at 6 p.m. and has 100 beds available. Officials said a potential back-up location is in consideration if needed.

    Atmos Energy said it is deploying additional resources to help restore natural gas service.
