A number of projects in Nebraska have been awarded grants from the USDA under President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. The funds will be invested in biofuels and clean energy projects to lower costs.
Among the projects in Nebraska are to ag producers to replace diesel irrigation engine with a more efficient electric motor, install solar power systems, upgrade geothermal systems, install more energy-efficient drip irrigation and wind turbines.
Among the larger awards were $1 Million to ethanol producer Sandhills Renewable Energy to install a more energy-efficient ICM system in Atkinson.
Another project will create infrastructure to expand the sales and use of renewable fuels. It will include the installation of E15 and E85 dispensers, along with an ethanol storage tank and biodiesel storage tank at fueling stations in Nebraska.
And KAAPA Ethanol will use a $1 Million grant to help the LLC install an additional fermenter at their Minden ethanol plant.
