Hi, I’m Jorge, the modern blind man with a shiny cane. First of all, I wanted to thank you for all the support on my first post here on r/Spain . I didn’t expect so many people to be interested in my daily life and my stories. To thank you, I’m going to tell you an anecdote that happened to me recently and that made me laugh.
I went to dinner at a restaurant. Everything was fine: the waiter helped me sit down, the food was delicious, everything was quiet. But when I was paying, the waiter, who already knew me from other times, told me: “Jorge, I have to tell you… there was a girl who kept her eyes on you throughout the entire dinner. “He looked at you like he had seen an alien.” I started laughing and told him: “It’s okay! Maybe it was love at first sight.” The waiter also broke down and told me: “Well, look, with what I was looking at you, it might be true.” I didn’t see anything, of course, but hey, who knows, maybe I missed something interesting.
And, well, I leave you a little reflection. Sometimes I realize that what is most surprising is not my cane or the fact that I can’t see… but that I continue forward as if nothing had happened. For me, it’s just living. But for others it is like a reminder: that it is not necessary to have everything clear, nor to see everything perfect, to move forward. Sometimes you just have to trust in the next step, even if you don’t know exactly where it will take you.
So that you can put yourself in my place a little, I leave you a challenge: the next time you go to dinner, try to do it with your eyes closed. From finding cutlery to cutting food, all without looking. Maybe you understand a little about what my day to day life is like. And be careful with the glasses, I’ve already spilled more than one!
Again, thank you for your interest in my little project, The Shining Staff. If you have questions, want to know something more or just chat, I am happy to read you here. I am very excited to share these things with you. 🙂

Me molan tus publicaciones, sigue asi
