Kenny Chesney is set to make history in a pretty awesome way this year as he becomes the first country music performer to ever play Las Vegas’ Sphere.
The country music star made that announcement just last week, saying at the time there was a planned 12-show residency at the venue. But the response was so overwhelming that he has since announced that three more shows — June 18, June 20 and June 21 — have been added to the schedule.
“I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music,” the 56-year-old said according to PEOPLE Magazine. “Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more.”
Chesney said he was “all in” when he started to learn about all of the possibilities that playing the venue would offer.
“Just the idea of 4D technology and the impossibly dialed in sound raises the experience for No Shoes Nation, literally immersing them in music, visuals, sound and being together,” he said. “To me this is going to be a whole new way of rocking the fans, and I can’t wait.”
Chesney said he has watched U2′s show at the Sphere.
“Once you see how the show wraps all the way around you, the dreaming begins,” he said.
The Sphere seats 17,600 people.
Chesney’s residency is slated to begin May 22 and will wrap up on June 14.
Chesney wrapped up his 2024 Sun Goes Down Tour in a major way back in August by playing three consecutive sold-out nights at Gilette Stadium. He packed the house, performing in front of more than 180,000 people across the three-day finale.
