    1. I am calling bullshit on this list. Oil is not the number 1 import from Columbia.

      Edit: It was just a joke about cocaine. Sorry. Didn’t mean to ruffle feathers. I will sit back and watch the smart folks and be quiet.

    2. Now that I think about it, Colombias exports of oil and gold to thr US are commodities of the global market, so if they aren’t sold to the US there will be a very small premium to sell them elsewhere, unlike stuff like flowers and coffee

      I mean- we all know it’s all theater, right?

      Colombia making a big fuss about the military transport, (but not actually caring about its citizens returning) turns into Trump grandstanding about tariffs.

      It gets everyone riled up and then in the end, Colombia says ok, send the returned citizens.

      This entire thing only ever amounted to today’s episode of As The World Turns

    4. Do you WANT to push trading partners into partnership with other countries? Because this is the way to do that. Not only that, but you are destabilizing a country that already has problems. WTF? So stupid.

      Want fewer immigrants from Latin America? Then bolster and uplift their home countries so they will want to stay.

      I feel bad for the flower markets. The other commodities can be picked up by the global market.

      Flowers have a short shelf life

    6. This is great!

      Short term Americans will pay more for oil products, coffee, and precious metals.

      There are mostly raw materials, so American producers of value added good will have supply chain issues.

      As a Canadian who expects the price Americans pay for Canadian products to go up, [here is a list of products](https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/exports/united-states) that Americans will either pay more for, or have supply chain issues for:

      * Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products

      * Vehicles

      * Machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers

      * Commodities not specified

      * Plastics

      * Pearls, precious stones, metals, coins

      * Electrical, electronic equipment

      * Wood and articles of wood, wood charcoal

      * Aluminum

      * Iron and steel

      * Aircraft, spacecraft

      * Paper

      * Pharmaceuticals

      * Articles of iron or steel

      * and many more.

      Now with tariffs on Mexico, we expect Americans to pay more for those products.

      Now they talk about annoying EU, UK

      I’m expecting American inflation to go through the roof (over 8%) in 2025

      I’m expecting nations to shift from trading with the US.

      I look forward to finding regulatory was to stop sales of Tesla’s (and other American products) in Canada, and look forward to an economical BYD EV from China.

      I hope our politicians don’t react to Trump’s threats, and let his people eat the tariffs and supply chain issues as we find reliable trade partners.
