Is that some kind of Chinese astrology thing? Like zodiac?

This might be an odd question, but do the colours represent anything here?

Did you guys notice a pattern? Itβs like they happen in a specific recurring order.

So there are 60 possible combinations of animal/element. Can someone explain what these combinations mean tho? (I know it is just astrology, i am just curious)
Learnt about this back in the day due to Jackie Chan cartoon and was super stoked to find out that I was born in Earth Dragon year!

An uninteresting fact: 2026 and 2027, the upcoming two years, known as the “Years of Scarlet Horse and Red Goat” are considered extremely unlucky according to Chinese mystical theories. Theoretically, these years symbolize cultural catastrophes, natural disasters, and national collapse. This theory first appeared in 1127, when the Northern Song Dynasty was overthrown by the Jurchens. The most recent “Years of Scarlet Horse and Red Goat” were 1966 and 1967, coinciding with the onset of the Cultural Revolution.

Very nice presentation. Actually perhaps the best i’ve seen so far, since is it so clear and visual.
We can see in an instant that it takes no less than 60 years to meet the exact same pattern once again.
Wild !!

intriguing, but also none of it means anything to me. we have 12 animals, 5 materials, and two yin/yang states. what does this all mean?

For those wondering, it’s written as δΉε·³ (yi3 si4). That’s Yin Wood – Snake.
If you’re wondering why the hell it doesn’t translate in Google either into English or from English, it’s because the characters are archaic. A modern character selection would be: ι΄ζ¨-θ

These year names based on the Chinese 60-yr cycle are quite important. Major historical events in China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam are often named after the year they happened.

Yang Fire Dragon in 2036 is gonna be a real doozy for births, isn’t it?

That’s cool, I didn’t know they were all always either yin or Yang. I.e., tiger can never be yin, etc.
