Can someone explain to me what are they try to achieve with this?
They want another party to win? They want to repeat elections? Or a coupe d’etat? If they want a coupe d’etat which party would be the one in power then?
And also, don’t these people have jobs? I mean, it’s quite of a pragmatic question since they have tons of free time to protest. It means they’re unemployed.
And if there’s a more pro western party doing a coupe d’etat for example, what would it mean? More financing from the EU?
One of the requirements for Georgia to join the EU is being financially WAY BETTER (Georgia is the poorest countrie in Europe), to solve their territorial issues with Russia (that won’t be able to happen because Georgia wants to retake these territories)…. And many more.
It’s impossible for Georgia to achieve any of these things anytime soon. And recovering those territories is absolutely impossible from Russia.
So what would be the decision then? In case a pro western country wins?
They would have to give up the territories to Russia anyways, since they won’t return back to Georgia ever, and it’s gonna have to become official so that it’s solved. That would mean Russia would fully annex those territories.
If Georgia doesn’t give up on those territories then there’s two problems again:
It can’t join EU because territorial integrity is one of the main points.
Second, it won’t be able to retake those territories because that would mean a war with Russia and nobody’s gonna support Georgia as they’re doing with Ukraine. We already saw this in 2008. Maybe they will put more sanctions, but we already see they’re not stopping Russia from selling their gas, etc to Europe…
So really… What’s the solution for this country? It’s just a whole mess.
