What we have at the moment is a gigantic pyramid scheme of ever greater migration to support the previous migrants who have overstayed and become welfare dependants themselves

Low skilled migrants should only be here _temporarily_, if
we allow them to stay long-term then we will just need more migration in the future to support the migrants who have become ageing dependents.

It sounds harsh but the status quo is simply unsustainable.

Maybe 2019 Tory voters should’ve thought about what “Get Brexit Done” might actually mean.

    3. GBNews actually has some sort of paywall now! Fantastic. Now they can only spread their nonsense to people who are willing to pay them for it.

It’s hard to understand why people call Boris right-wing or conservative. Aside from the party name he has been very unconservative with his policies of mass migration, massive state, high taxes, multiculturalism, net zero, nationalisation etc.

All nonsense in the name of ‘progression’ when he set us back decades.

    5. Lol, Boris only known positive is being the guy who had the balls to give aid to Ukraine, well whatever way you look at it, the aid sent to Ukraine has been of considerably lower monitary value than the money frittered away here.

I mean not to say strictly speaking every migrant and asylum seeker should be 1000% expected to positively contribute financially but you can’t import population groups the size of major cities every year who are nearly all a net loss and expect things to be fine, the UK is in the middle of cultural and economic suicide and Sky and the BBC are more interested in talking about fires in california and a Love island star being jailed so GB news ends up being the people talking about it. Because Sky and BBC would be embaressed to talk about it more than once in a while, no matter how bad it is.

    6. Can somebody please confirm that “Boriswave” isn’t just the additional children he has fathered?

      Thank you.

Boris loved flooding the country with migrants. Will go down as one of the worst prime ministers of all time.

    8. It’s GB Mewbs the UK’s Fox Lite. I can’t call it nEwS because it’s just an entertainment channel cavorting masquerading as factuality.

    9. It has also been reported that migrants put more money into the economy than they take out so which is true.

This is also GB News which has been previously found guilty of transmitting misinformation.

Reading what I think is the original report I really can’t tell where they are getting this number from. The 35 billion isn’t mentioned anywhere in the report so I assume this number was taken via assuming the maximal estimates and then doing the math on the costs.

Also the original report is kinda shit. It makes no attempt to actually explain the numbers just gets the numbers and uses it to justify their view. It’s quite clear that they had a view and searched around until they found evidence to support their view. The other research on the site is of similar quality with one “research” paper complaining that groups that worked with the government opposed the Rwanda scheme.

    11. Jesus don’t let the brexit page see this they will have a fit and say you made it all up, you are right wing and a nazi.

      Possibly even racist.

In all seriousness what annoys me is immigration from outside the EU is a net cost but we seem to have ramped up this kind of immigration and cut down on EU immigration which was economically positive.

I don’t know the drivers but I think things like care homes being allowed to arrange unlimited visa for workers is one of them. But I’m not sure on the drivers or a fix.

The bloody gov should be though

This mass wave of somewhat worthless (in a net loss to the economy) immigration will lead to a far right future for this country and Europe. Every single person I know is now ready to vote as hard right as it takes to kick out illegal immigrants and fake refugees. They are not racists as skin colour does not come in to it.

    13. Guys, that’s gbnews.

It’s not news. It’s Russian propaganda.

      Ignore anything coming from them.

GB news is our Fox News btw. You shouldnt believe anything they say. Look for a reputable source.

    15. Lies and racism abound in this thread. It takes at least 5 years to get indefinite leave to remain and costs a lot of money. As an immigrant you have no recourse to public funds or benefits.

    16. There should be posting limits on this sub, bots and bad actors outside of the uk posting far right rhetoric and upvoting themselves so when the UK wakes up the first thing people see is this shit

    18. So

Immigrants who are here on minimum wage jobs can bring over a spouse and children

British workers who are minimum wage workers aren’t allowed to do so and need to earn more than 60% of the country before they can do so

Doesn’t seem that fair to me

So strange, millions of immigrants (approx. 20 million since 1970), and yet you had Johnson’s father, acutely aware of the UK supposedly being heavily overpopulated literally saying how it could really only support a fraction of the population (back in 80s it was I presume). I wonder what Boris’ response would be to that. How his policies run counter to the deep convictions his father still holds on this issue.

On the way to 72,5 million in 2032 apparently

    20. Conservatives? What exactly did they conserve, Blairs legacy? A disgusting party, almost as bad as Marxist Labour.

    21. ForeignWeb8992 on

So are we going to raise nurses pay to tempt our own youngsters to go into the profession?

    22. Does anyone have a link to the actual report and calculation?

Reading the article, this is what it talks about how it was calculated it highlights the following from the OBR last year

“In September 2024, the OBR released a much-publicised Fiscal Risk report which showed, for the first time, that low-wage migrants are a net cost to the Exchequer at every stage of life.”

However in that same report it states that migrants who come when they’re over 25 would contribute almost £500,000 to the economy by the time they’re 80. Another oddity is the CMC claim cost of dependents wasn’t considered by the OBR, but again in the OBR report it concludes “the cost of migrant children’s education is expected to be offset by their earnings when they are adults”

So I’d be cautious to react to the headline
