      Honestly, I’m surprised that the Telegraph didn’t think that this was a better thing to criticise Celtic fans for:

      >CELTIC ultras were last night slammed for singing about the IRA on the streets of Birmingham – weeks after the 50th anniversary of the city’s devastating terror attack.

      >Dozens of fans – believed to be Green Brigade members – were filmed singing their support for the bombers hours before the match with Aston Villa.

      >And home supporters inside the ground also complained about hearing the same offensive chants during the Champion’s League tie shown live on TV.

      As a general rule, going to a place and singing about the time that some of the people living there got murdered is a bit crass, isn’t it? Particularly if you’re doing it around the time that the place is noting the anniversary of the event.

      I’m sure Billy knew what he was going to get coming down the Villa for the Celtic match. He can take comfort that those daft little men dressed in khaki who were wandering through Birmingham singing IRA songs near the 50th anniversary of the (still unpunished) Birmingham Pub bombings that killed 21 people, have to live their lives being the daft, silly little cosplayers that they are.

      Singing about the IRA, sectarianism… the list could continue. Lowest of the low of football fans. It’s a football game… football hooliganism and hate are not welcome. Pushing hate through kids through the beautiful game is an absolute tragedy.

      There are always pricks happy to say the most appalling things to provoke a reaction from their opponents. With no greater understanding of the issues other than it gets a rise from the other side
      It’s best to ignore them, they have nothing to say worth listening to.
      As a republican I too dislike the institution of the British monarchy but don’t think for one second that they give a shit if I sing it from the terraces of a football ground.
      The Telegraph is just looking for ragebait.

      Well if they really still think they are all Irish. There’s a Republic they can go back to.
