Why’s Badenoch asking how this was allowed when it literally happened under the last government she was a minister in?

Honestly cannot believe how bad she is at politics.

If we’re letting Gazans in as refugees, I take it we are implementing punitive actions / sanctions against Israel as the agents pushing these people from their homeland?

    3. A scheme set up to help families escape war, persecution, and potential genocide by an aggressive foreign power was used by a family escaping war, persecution, and potential genocide by an aggressive foreign power.

But they weren’t the nationality politicians had in mind when setting the scheme up, so its suddenly bad that it did exactly what it was designed to do.

Whether you think Gazans deserve to come here or not, ultimately its schemes like this being misused for their intended purpose which is why so many people have lost faith in immigration policy now. Its right for Starmer to come out against this.

I’m very pro-Palestinian but the judge absolutely made the wrong call here. Our justice system is supposed to interpret the law, not set it. The Parliament under the Tories absolutely intended for this scheme to [apply to Ukrainians only](https://archive.is/Yk1GT#selection-1003.0-1033.97), but the judge basically overruled it and said it applies to other refugees too.

The right way to go about it is for the government to come up with a similar scheme for Gazans, _which many left-wing MPs have been calling for_, not letting one judge deciding what our immigration system should be. But I’d bet my lifesavings that this government will never extend it to Gazans.

I think the way he calmly and politely says ‘but she hasn’t done her homework, this was a decision taken under the last govt and under the last framework..but we (my govt) are looking to close this loophole’ makes it a much more powerful kick in the nuts than to go ranting and raving as Jenrick would do. Not a majority opinion but I like Starmer’s way of handling pmq’s.
