Would *love* to know how homeless people count as part of the “household” population. Additionally, I think the majority of people sleeping in RVs full-time at *best* exist in a grey area between “housed” and “homeless,” and according to the cops around here they’re pretty squarely homeless. Grouping them in under “owner-occupied housing” feels pretty disingenuous, especially since this is supposed to be connecting where people sleep to how well they sleep. Pretty sure the folks driving their RV from encampment to encampment under bridges, in parking lots, and on curbs while cops constantly harass them and chase them away aren’t sleeping as well as the average person who owns a house.

Does this say over 60% of the country OWNS the property they live in, or am I misreading this? That seems high, I thought “no one could afford to buy anything”…I live in a big city so most people I know rent—that may be skewing my views. But I know plenty of suburban people who are renters, too.

This is fascinating. Not surprising but the detail reveals things that we need reminding of, like our huge number of incarcerated individuals (more than in nursing homes and assisted living care facilities).
