    1. How about putting in more money so there’s enough beds and ill kids don’t have to sleep on the floor?

Or so pensioners don’t have to wait hours for an ambulance?

But hey sure, let’s just fight the culture wars.

    2. I’m afraid this lost me at “thesun.co.uk” and their (possibly illegal) “pay to reject cookies” bollocks.

    3. These are…not comparable things at all? “Sorry sir, we can’t cut out your tumour for another six months, the surgeon is busy editing the word Woman out of the documents”. Just admit you don’t want the world to be at all accommodating to trans people. That’s what you’re trying to get at.

    4. These words need a couple of changes

The government has got to stop bare faced lying like erasing the word tax from documents and get back to basics

    5. The GP’s and surgeons are not the ones editing the websites.

This culture war shit is so fucking dumb…

its a well known fact that treating trans people with basic respect is why the hospital doesnt have enough beds

    7. I’ve worked in health services for 16 years in various roles. I’ve never been briefed on erasure of words like woman. I have however sat in meetings where we have actively discussed the fact we feel unsupported by senior leadership.

    8. I would have thought that making sure patients feel welcome and comfortable is a very relevant thing for the NHS to discuss.

    9. Engaging in this dumbassery is pointless. It just circulates the issue into the mainstream as the tabloids cherry pick quotes. Labour should be no where near this. If you engage in this you shift the Overton window and you’ll lose to a party like reform that engages in this trash full time.

It’s not just the NHS. So many institutions are captured at a high level. It’s high time for a clear out.

    11. Talking of getting back to basics; how about the Government get back to running public services like the NHS and funding them properly?

That’s your job Wes not writing Op Ed’s in The Sun of all bloody places.

I couldn’t give a shit if the word ‘Woman’ was in documents or not. What I do care about is properly run public services, You have enough tax off me and the rest of us.

    12. Trans people need to have the same rights as other human beings with the same treatments.

Yeah don’t bang on about it everywhere and brag about how inclusive and diverse I agree with you there, but just give them the rights we all equally they deserve and crack on with it quietly

They don’t deserve to have negative media on them, they just deserve to be left alone. They don’t deserve to lose their rights.

    13. We get it Wes, you hate us.

Why does my local NHS hospital make shit coffee? Trans people.

Why did I have to wait eight hours for an ambulance when my grandmother had a stroke? Pronouns.

But it’s okay, though. You’re gay. You can hoist that word up like a little fucking shield to deflect your trendy bigotry you catholic quisling.

    14. Culture war nonsense is the real thing holding the NHS back not many years of underfunding. The man’s a fucking donut.

    15. Yes. The amount of random DEI bull shit and DEI roles is sapping money and energy from something that’s already poorly managed / run.

    16. “erasing the word ‘woman’ from documents”

What documents are erasing ‘woman’? What documents specifically feature ‘woman’?

Transphobes learn that sex and gender are different challenge (impossible)

    17. Am I crazy, or is a lot of this sort of stuff (e.g. changing “women” to “people with female reproductive organs”) not just incredibly patronising to trans people?

Like I’m sure trans women are fully aware they cannot, for example, get cervical cancer. Because they do not have a cervix.

    18. Did they score the document just to put in the gender-neutral language or put in the gender neutral language while updating the document for, say, improving patient care?

    19. Im sure this being The Sum it’s completely bollocks but of he said anything approaching this it just reinforces that Wes Streeting is an automaton firmly in the uncanny valley.

As someone who works for the NHS, can confirm, we have not removed the words man, woman, male or female from our vocabulary or documentation
