Absolutely heartbreaking but I hope that every scumbag that’s ever hurt a child sees this story and is filled with fear that they may be found out one day.

A child was killed, and it took 44 years for someone to dob on whodunnit?
And… Magistrates court??? Surely something of this nature requires a jury???

Maybe someone with knowledge of this has died/ is facing death and wanted to clear their conscience beforehand? Otherwise the amount of time that has passed between the crime and the charge is really quite hard to understand.

I’d be interested to know how it came to light and hope the girls family have some peace with justice served, though late.

There is a Janice Nix who featured in BBC articles a few years ago. She was a drug dealer who went to prison and later joined the probation service. She had an estranged daughter. She would be 65 or 66 now. It’s an unusual name and the age is right.

It’s possible the assault happened in private. Perhaps the child was sharing a home with (or was in the care of) Nix when the assault took place. At the time, the injuries might have been passed off as an accident. Nix herself may have recently confessed to someone. I’m just speculating.
